316L Grade Stainless Steel Flue Systems

Specification

316L grade Stainless Steel flue pipe and components are available in 5” – 8” diameters as standard but also available in larger diameters on request. Standard Wall Gauges are 22g (0.7mm) & 20g (0.9mm)

The longitudinal seam on all components is fully welded to minimise any chance of leakage and to ensure a uniform high quality of manufacture throughout.

316L grade Stainless Steel is extremely resistant to corrosion and is suitable for Gas, Oil, Solid Fuel, Wood and Peat Appliances.

Standard Finish is 2B but can be sprayed any colour with High Temperature Paint.

General Design

Always follow the Appliance Manufactures advice on the correct diameter of flue to use, but never use smaller than the Appliance diameter outlet

The flue pipe must be kept the minimum of 3 x the diameter away from combustible materials

Keep the flue as straight as possible by using the minimum number of bends and where possible, use 30º elbows to make an offset instead of 45º.

90º bends can only be used at the bottom of the stack as an alternative to a condensation Tee.

Assembly

Ensure that the flue is installed with the crimp pointing downwards to ensure that any condensation is kept within the flue.

Fire cement should be used at each joint.  Joint clips are recommended but left up to the installer if they are fitted or not. Alternative are stainless steel screws or rivets.

Always refer to and comply with Building Regulations – Document J, Planning Office & HETAS (Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme).

Cleaning

Chemical cleaners should not be used

In the event of a chimney fire, professional advice should be obtained before the flue is used again
